ch 2 voc words

relented- 1. to soften in feeling, temper, or determination; become more mild, compassionate, or forgiving.
2. to become less severe; slacken: The winds relented.
sen:
When I meditate twice a week I feel very relented when I talk to people.


tandem- 1. one following or behind the other: to drive horses tandem.

2. having animals, seats, parts, etc., arranged tandem or one behind another.
sen:
When my family and I go to roadtrips we tandem so we won't get lost on our way.



chauffeured- 1. a person employed to drive a private automobile or limousine for the owner.
2. a person employed to drive a car or limousine that transports paying passengers.
sen:
Alot of people who are wealthy drive with chauffered people.


gullible- 1.easily deceived or cheated.
sen: I like to help out gullible people because they are not very smart in life.


token- 1. something serving to represent or indicate some fact, event, feeling, etc.; sign: Black is a token of mourning.
2. a characteristic indication or mark of something; evidence or proof: Malnutrition is a token of poverty
sen: We have the token of the mistery that has been going out for years.


whimsical- 1. given to whimsy or fanciful notions; capricious: a pixyish, whimsical fellow.
2. of the nature of or proceeding from whimsy, as thoughts or actions: Her writing showed whimsical notions of human behavior.
sen:There's whimsical stores at the mall.

abode- 1. a place in which a person resides; residence; dwelling; habitation; home.
2. an extended stay in a place; sojourn
sen:There's homeless people on the streets that have an abode hidden somewhere.


rant- 1. to speak or declaim extravagantly or violently; talk in a wild or vehement way; rave: The demagogue ranted for hours.

2. to utter or declaim in a ranting manner.
sen: I hate it when people talk in rant voices.
